Okanagan Spirits Laird of Fintry Single Malt Whisky ReviewOkanagan Spirits – Laird of Fintry Single Malt Whisky (Lot 5 / 2018)

The 5th release of the Laird of Fintry comes in 2018 and for those lucky enough to purchase a bottle they can enjoy this BC handcrafted spirit made with only Okanagan ingredients. This whisky is a dark amber colour with a reddish hue much darker than your typical local, and often young whisky. The nose on this is intense with notes of vanilla, cherry, raisin, caramel, toasted oak and other dried fruits. From the nose, it seems as if a sherry or port style barrel may have been used but there is no reference to cask style on the label. Tasting the spirit, the dried fruit tones come through in some strength along side the cherry, caramel, vanilla and oak. There is a bit of heat that lingers at the back of the palate but the whisky is overall balanced, strongly flavoured and has a fair bit of barrel character that has been passed on. Without knowing an age on this whisky, an estimate would place it in the 5-6 year range which is older than your typical BC single malt.
